NC State Performance Based Measurement
Computer Modeling & Animation
For this project I was instructed to make a burger and then turn that burger into an advertisement and a menu. I started by making the buns with the shape maker and the eclipse tool in adobe illustrator. I then used the mesh tool to add color in a realistic manner. I then added a patty and once again used the mesh tool to add detailed shading. I then made the lettuce and tomato using the pen tool and mesh tool. I also used the drop shadow effect to add shadow to parts of the burger. I then made a seed icon and plastered it all around the top bun. I then used the pen tool and shape maker to make a variety of toppings and created three different burgers. I turned the burgers into an advertisement with a gradient background and a menu item. For the menu I added a list of toppings that were on each burger using the text tool and added a build your own section, sides section, and a drinks section. I then created a title and added drop shadow. After that I used the pen tool to make fries, a soda can, and a lighting bolt going around the burgers to help make it look nicer. I really enjoyed this project because I was able to make what I wanted in adobe. These skills are really useful and can help me get jobs in graphic design in the future.
I enjoyed making this project because it gave me an idea of what comic artists have to do daily, I got to come up with my own comic panels and characters. I did this one because I always liked watching and reading superhero shows and comics. A large amount of them start of with something like this too.
I had fun while making this project because it allowed me to use my knowledge to demonstrate each element and principle of design. I used Lines, Shape, Space, Color, Size, and Texture to demonstrate Balance, Emphasis, Rythm, Proportion, and Unity.
I enjoyed making this project because I was able to think of my own character. I decided to do these two because their personalities are completely different, one is a business man who is confident and witty. The other is a scientist who works with dangerous gasses and is mostly silent.
After doing this project I feel like I learned more about masking and how to create detailed shadows. I masked the monkey eating a pineapple onto the background image and gave it a shadow. I also masked a pineapple in, gave it an angry face and a shadow, and duplicated it to make an army. These skills I am learning are very important because photoshop is a program that is used by many different companies and knowing how to use it will get you ahead.
I found this project very interesting. I enjoyed being able to use tools such as the lasso tool to cut out the image and turn it into the vignette. I used the lasso tool and the feather value in the lasso tool to create the vignette. Overall, this assignment was easy and fun to do.
I liked being able to use cameras instead of a perspective view to make a moving camera animation. I also liked being able to go into detail with the lights and animating it to look like the time is changing. Overall this was a fun project and I feel like I learned a lot from it.
When making this I found all of it interesting. I thought it was interesting being able to constrict the car to the path and having it follow the path. Overall this project was pretty simple and interesting.
When making this, I was told to use very specific inputs for the position, rotation and scale for the objects. I thought this was interesting but I still prefer being able to make it myself. I followed the guide and created this detail which looks exactly how I was told to make it look.
- I began each of these 3d models by creating either a 3d shape or a 2d shape.
- I enjoyed being able to work with the lathe modifier and turning 2d lines into 3d objects.
- The easier parts for me where creating the animations and doing the lighting and rendering, and the hardest part was shaping the 2d line to fit the shape correctly.
- I use my previous animation skills and my previous work with the lathe modifier.
- If I ever want to make simple shapes in 3ds max I could use the same skills I used in this assignment to shape out and design models.
- I learned how to mirror the object to the other axis in 3ds max.
- I would like to learn how to add more detailed textures to 3ds max and over all make more realistic models and animations.
