Now that the quarter is nearing an end, I have known how to 3d model since before I started this class, but since then I have learned how to use 3d max to create more in depth models and scenes. I have learned how to use modifiers such as lofts, edit poly, taper, noise, and mesh smooth to create detailed and realistic models. Before starting this class I had known the basics of 3d modeling using systems like blender, but now I know more about creating models in 3ds max while using modifiers that were not available in blender or any other software I've used. I have enjoyed the parts of this class where I could make my own ideas instead of the set tutorials for me to follow. I plan to continue practicing these skills and improving them a ton before the next quarter check comes around. These skills are important to know because most professional companies use 3ds max or other similar software when making their 3d models. In the future, I could use this skill when making videogames or assets for a movie. For example, if I wanted to get a job at epic games, it would be important to know how to 3d model using a software like this because they probably use something similar to this when making 3d models.

When thinking of an idea for my scene, I decided to go for a character with a sword and shield fighting a golem with glowing eyes. Instead of making old models I decided to make mostly new models to challenge myself, the only old models I used were the flowers and the sword. I made the other models from scratch. When making my characters I used only the edit poly modifier, by doing this I could follow the reference art I found and finish up this character model. I did not really face any problems while making this model. I used the edit poly modifier to create my character, the material editor to make the material of the character, shield, and the glowing red eyes of the golem. I used the hair and fur modifier to make the grass of my scene which we had not learned yet. I feel like I did well with my scene and achieved mt desired
I began this project by using very simple modifiers to create a mushroom, rock, and flower. I enjoyed being able to learn more about modifiers such as taper and noise. For me, I found making the rocks the easiest and being able to add variety to the flowers the most difficult. In the real world, I could use this lesson if I ever wanted to do 3d modeling for a game, movie, or personal project. I used my knowledge of 3d modeling and modifiers to make this. To make this better, I would like to learn how to change the texture of objects from smooth to rough or bumpy to make more realistic renders. After completing the base models, I did some freestyling and created a river with a waterfall and some trees.
In this project I was instructed to make a futuristic spaceship in 3ds max. I started this project by inserting a box into a blank 3ds max project, I then proceeded to edit the box to resemble a spaceship by extruding, beveling, insetting, and other skills. I enjoyed the freedom I had while making this project, I was allowed to add whatever I wanted while creating this spaceship. the easiest part of this project for me was making the base of the spaceship and the most difficult was when I encountered an error and needed to restart. If I ever wanted to make 3d models for film development, game development, or a personal project I could use these skills I learned. I already knew most of the things we used for this project from some personal projects. The only thing I would recommend to add to make this project better was to be able to change the color and texture instead of having one color and it being smooth.
In this project I was instructed to use surface modeling to make a simple tank. I began the project by opening 3ds max and creating a box. I really enjoyed being able to mess around freely and make it as different from the video as I liked. the most difficult part of this project for me was making the hatch on top of the tank, the easiest part for me was making the gun. I can use this lesson in the real world if I ever wanted to create 3d models in the future for game development, movies, or as a personal project. I already knew a lot of what we learned in this project but I guess modeling the surface of the tank was new to me. Learning how to use 3ds max to create more complex shapes extended my knowledge. If I could change the lesson I would want to learn how to change the texture of the objects.
