For this project I was instructed to play a game to help me practice using the pen tool to make Bezier curves and good looking shapes. I completed the game with 32 nodes to spare which I am pretty proud of. Overall the game was really fun and I had a good time playing it. This game helped me learn how to make advanced shapes using the pen tool, this knowledge is very useful because creating shapes like these would be very common in a lot of careers so it is good knowledge to understand how to make these.

In this project, I was told to display a movie in 4 different icons, I chose the movie Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets. I created some simple glasses from the movie using the shape builder and an acceptance letter into Hogwarts using the shape builder. I also made a cauldron and wand using the shape builder, afterwards I went through and added color and made it look nicer. Overall I am happy with how it turned out and I learned a lot about the shape builder and illustrator.
While creating this project I learned a lot about the font OCR A, I learned that it was made in the early days of computers to be a language recognizable by both humans and computers. I like the style of this font because it has hacker vibes and seems like something you would see in a movie about robots. I like the green and black color scheme I chose because it makes it seem like something written in a console of a computer. I would use this font if I was trying to style a game or a movie based on hackers or something similar to computers.
This project was my first look into Adobe Illustrator, In this project I was instructed to make a pizza using bassic shapes in Adobe Illustrator. I made a pizza with pepperoni, olives, green peppers, and ham using squares, triangles, and circles. I enjoyed this project because I got to learn a new software.
In this project I learned how to do UVW Unwrapping and was instructed to create, paint, and apply a UV island for the tank model I made earlier in the year. First, I created a UV island template in 3ds max an rearranged everything so it looks better. Then I painted it to look like a tank that had a bunch of graffiti on it. Then I applied it and painted over the lines, I also went back into photoshop to fix and problems there were with it. I then created a simple scene with an environment and a light source and rendered the final renders.
For this project I was instructed to make a box 3d game object. I was provided the image files and the dimensions the box should be. I used the material editor with a multi/sub object module to create different textures for the different sides of the box. I then applied the material to the box and fixed any problems there was with it. Afterwards I added a light source and a floor and rendered the final renders. I am overall pretty proud of this project, I think the box looks pretty realistic.
In this project, I was instructed to make 3 different 3d objects and apply unique materials to them in the material editor. For the first I just used the material editor to make a basic color to apply. For the second I found and image of a brick wall and made it into a material, I then went into photoshop and made the image black and white do add bump to the image. For the third and final object I connected many different materials of colors and a bitmap into one which used different material IDs and made an object that used all of these in different faces. This is really important for 3d modeling in the future because it allows for the creation of more detailed and advanced models which is used in almost every company and 3d modeling job. This also allows for me to create more realistic models and add a texture and depth to my objects.
Overall, I really did enjoy this quarter, I feel like I have learned a lot. I significantly improved my skills in photoshop, and I feel like I have gotten better at drawing. I enjoyed all of the projects where I had to be creative this quarter. I learned a lot of new techniques which will hopefully stick with me throughout the years because they are very good skills to have for a large amount of jobs. I have learned some key skills which will be very useful to me in the future. These skills I have learned can also help me with some hobbies I do at home. I plan to pursue my goal of becoming a programmer and these skills can really help me if I need to use graphic design for any of that.
I began this project thinking about what I could do, then I came up with an Idea to have an eagle carrying me around while other things are flying around in the sky. I then added a penguin, hot air balloon, an eagle, and took a picture of me to add. I removed the background of every image and positioned them to look nice. I enjoyed being able to put myself into the picture for this project. The easiest part of this was thinking of the Idea and the hardest was removing the background of the image. I used the layer mask tool to remove the background, free transform tool to scale, and the move tool for this project. I can't really think of anything that could make this project better.
How AI is removing the effort from art.By Jackson CuevasMany artists need to work really hard to make their art, many spending weeks or sometimes months just for a single picture. So if I were to tell you that you could make similar art in less than a minute with no effort involved, would that seem fair to you? Many artists are fed up with AI art and how it removes the efforts of making art and removes it. Also, most AI art programs steal art from artists who worked hard to make their art and puts it in a database used for training the AI, usually without permission too. A lot of these issues are making people wonder if AI art will take over the art industry as a whole. I personally believe that stealing art is wrong, no matter how you use it.
How this takes the effort from art How would you feel if you spent a week working on an art piece that you were really proud of just to find out that some AI art made an almost identical image in less than a minute? This brings me into the first major problem with AI, a lot of AI art programs can make detailed art with just the click of a button, taking almost all of the meaning away from the art piece. This is unfair towards the artists who have dedicated their career towards art and now most people don't even have a use for these artists anymore now that AI can do the same thing. Now I can see why others might find it convenient or useful to have these AI art programs make art for you, but why can't you just pay an artist to do so for you or even make it yourself? AI is stealing art? Another point is that many AI companies such as OpenAI and Midjourney have gotten into legal troubles for stealing art from artists to train their AI software. This is extremely unfair because they do not even bother asking for permission from the artists beforehand. These art pieces which artist worked hard on are then used to teach the AI how to create similar art. I understand that it is required to have something train the AI to make art, but why not hire your own artists to make art specifically for training? These companies are making a large amount of profit from these stolen art pieces. Artists are afraid for their career If that doesn't concern you, what about the jobs of many different artists? There has been an increasing amount of video games and companies that have began to use AI art for their graphics. This concerns me and many other people because if the amount of companies using AI art continues to grow then many artists and graphic designers are going to lose their jobs. I do believe that currently it is unlikely an artist loses their job to an AI art generator but AI is constantly learning and improving, making the probability of this increasing. Now many young adults are starting to worry if they are going to be able to pursue a career in art or if they should quit due to AI. Conclusion In conclusion, AI is constantly stealing art and making life harder for artists trying to pursue a career in art. Although it is up to you to choose to use AI art or not, you should at least consider the feelings of artists who work hard to create their art. AI art steals art from artists, takes away the effort from creating art, and is also concerning many young artists with the idea that AI might make artists irrelevant. I seriously believe that what a lot of AI art platforms are doing is just wrong.
